Stewardship at Holy Trinity

What is Stewardship?

As Christians, we believe that God has entrusted each of us with certain gifts, talents and resources. Each of us are “stewards” of a part of His creation. Stewardship is the faithful use of those resources for Jesus’ continued ministry in the world. One important way we practice stewardship is by making an annual pledge to God’s work in and through Holy Trinity.

What is a Pledge?

A pledge is a promise of financial contribution to Holy Trinity for the upcoming year. It is a good-faith commitment, not a contract. Of course, sometimes financial circumstances change, and should that happen, you can always increase or decrease your pledge by notifying the church.

Why does Holy Trinity ask you to Pledge?

Two reasons: for you, and for the church. Giving is good for us. It is an act of joy and faith - a way that we can participate in God’s work. Jesus himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20.35). Furthermore, your pledge is a great help to the vestry and staff as we plan and budget for the upcoming year.

How much should I pledge?

Holy Trinity is committed to the Biblical principle of the tithe – of giving 10% of our income (God’s provision) back to His work in and through His church. If you have not yet reached the tithe, that’s ok! The amount of your pledge is between you and God. Before you pledge, pray. Pray for peace, faith and a generous heart. After praying, decide on a percentage that feels both joyful and sacrificial, and then seek to gradually increase that percentage each year.
