COMMUNITY SERVICE

  • Casseroles on Call is a ministry whose purpose is to nourish both bodies and souls. Teams of volunteer cooks prepare casseroles at home to be stored in our freezer to be “on call” as needed. Our hope is that Holy Trinity families experiencing long- and short-term illnesses, surgery, caregiving, a new baby, and other changes and challenges will feel the love baked into our casseroles and receive respite from the worry of planning, shopping, and cooking.

There are four teams of 4 to 5 volunteer cooks who prepare casseroles on rotation, and we ask cooks to prepare 2 or 3 casseroles each rotation.

We have given away beef stews, lasagnas, shepherd pies, stuffed peppers, and various chicken and beef casseroles, along with soups and chili. This smorgasbord of casseroles has been received with many smiles and much gratitude.

  • The outreach committee responds to God’s call to serve others in need. We encourage activities that promote a deeper understanding of Christ’s commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves.

The committee helps through two main avenues: monthly collections and yearly grants. There are also times when the committee is called upon to give to those in need in other areas of the nation and the world. We meet as a group once a month to discuss what the needs are and how to take action. No experience or training is necessary, and everyone is welcome.

Each month, the committee researches local agencies to find those that can benefit from various types of donations. A specific list of items needed is publicized to the congregation with a description of the group we are serving. Donation drop-offs are held once a month on a Saturday morning, and we coordinate the delivery of collected items to the selected group or agency.

On a yearly basis, the committee is called on to oversee the disbursement of grant funds to local nonprofit agencies in an amount of up to $10,000 each. Applications are collected throughout the year, and, during October and November, we, as a committee, review the information, make visitations to the agencies, and give recommendations based on our findings.

  • St. Elizabeth Guild (our chapter of Episcopal Church Women, or ECW) is a group of women who love Jesus and Holy Trinity Church. We meet monthly from September through May on the second Wednesday in the church library from 10:00 to 11:30am.

In addition to fellowship and mutual support, we also contribute to the mission of the church through fundraisers and acts of service. These include yearly drives such as bake sales and the Angel Tree for Christmas, as well as occasional offerings for things like the capital fund, stained glass windows, kitchen equipment, restroom remodeling, and more.

  • In the 1980’s, St. George’s Church began a ministry to feed individuals and families in the area. Several churches and faith-based groups joined the effort to establish the Center as part of the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida.

Since the beginning of the Pandemic, a mid-day ‘to go’ hot meal is distributed outside from 11:30-12:30 on weekdays, along with a bag of protein bars, sandwiches, water, and other items for later. Clothing distribution and social services continue outside. Office hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers inside put the bags together from donated or purchased items and help with the meal, clothing, social services, and other needs.
